PolkaDots’ After School Club is a lively space for children to unwind after school. We provide a blend of educational and recreational activities, including art and sports, to help your child explore, create, and build friendships, making afternoons filled with fun and growth.

Information
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
- Location: Ysgol Glan Ceubal.
- Monday – Friday, 3pm-5:30pm (£15.50) or Monday – Thursday, 3pm-6pm (£17.00).
- Minimum of two sessions per week required.
- We collect children from school and bring them to a classroom in Ysgol Glan Ceubal.
FEES & PAYMENTS
- Services run during school term times only.
- Fees are due monthly in advance on the 1st of each month.
- Late payment fee: £5 per day. After five consecutive days of non-payment, your child’s place will be forfeited.
- Late collection fee: £5 for every 5 minutes late.
- Registerd to accept The Childcare Offer for Wales (30 hour funding), Tax-Free Childcare, Childcare vouchers and other schemes
SICKNESS & HOLIDAYS
- Full fees apply if your child is absent due to sickness or holidays.
- We do not offer refunds or reductions for missed days, as staffing and resources remain consistent.
- If a child becomes unwell, we will make them comfortable and contact parents or emergency contacts.
- For urgent medical attention, a staff member will accompany the child to the nearest A&E and stay until the parent or carer arrives.
AIMS & OBJECTIVES
- We create a safe, caring, and stimulating environment where children can develop socially and emotionally while having fun.
- Clear behavior boundaries, praise, and rewards support good behavior, self-esteem, and mutual care.
- We promote open communication between children, staff, and parents, ensuring children feel valued and involved in planning activities.
ACTIVITIES
- We offer a variety of indoor and outdoor activities that inspire creativity and curiosity.
- Activities are based on the ‘Eight Playwork Principles,’ ensuring play is freely chosen and motivated by the child.
- Outdoor play is encouraged, with children moving freely between indoor and outdoor areas.
SNACKS
- Fresh snacks are provided daily at around 4pm.
- Organic products are used when possible.
- Snacks are freshly prepared by staff with food hygiene certification.
- Children bring their own packed lunch.
- Fresh drinking water is always available.
LANGUAGE
- At Polka Dots, English is the primary language spoken, ensuring clear communication for all children.
- However, we incorporate basic Welsh into daily activities, supporting the bilingual nature of the region.
- Some of our staff members are fluent in Welsh and can assist children in both languages as needed.
- We encourage children to engage with Welsh through songs, games, and simple phrases, promoting cultural awareness and language skills.
SAFTEY & SECURITY
- We maintain comprehensive health and safety policies and percedures that comply with up to date CIW regulations.
- Staff training and safety checks are up to date and renewd regularly.
- The setting is secure with locked entrances, CCTV, and emergency protocols in place.
- Contact details must be kept up-to-date for safety.
REGISTRATION
- Registration Fee: £50.00.
- To register, please contact for and complete a registration form. The manager will confirm availability of the requested sessions for your child.
- Upon confirmation, you will receive written confirmation of your child’s placement, along with details of fees, discounts, and any further requirements.
COMPLAINTS
- We take complaints and concerns seriously and address them promptly according to our complaints policy.
- Complaints will be resolved by the manager, but you are also free to contact the Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) if necessary.
